What name would you give a new pick up set?
« on: December 23, 2008, 08:51:31 PM »
Hey guys.. just for fun... if Tim/BKP gave you the opportunity to name a pick up/ set, what would you call it and why? I'm going to get a set of Riff Raffs in the new year for an LP and can't wait.... but if ever I place a custom order it would be for a set of Humbuckers. I'm not knowledgeable enough yet to work out winds, wire, magnets etc... I'd need to think about that. But I know I'd want them for my all Mahogany custom... so I'm thinking slightly hot PAFs, A5's to add a bit of edge and cut but degaused slightly for warmth, a good amount of aging to gold covers. I'd want them to split well and give a kind of phat Strat sound. The name...

Tim-Buck-2's.

Bear in mind it's just a bit of fun. What do you want and what would you call it/ them?

Merry christmas to all BKP forumites! Have a good one.

I'd have a set of aged zebra coil AIV PAF types (overwound AIV Stormies?).  Clear yet warrm, I'll call them TF2s  ;)

Actually, make it two sets

Were they to do a rickenbacher bass set (which Tim has disavowed as a potential standard production model due to its niche appeal. There is always the chance of rewinds, though.) one could call them Silver Machines or even Motorheads to tie in with the Lemmy Kilmister connection.

For a John Entwhistle set perhaps Spiders or Substitutes (I actually quite like the word play with that one but it doesn't do to be smug about one's punnage does it?).
I too use chicken as a measurement.

I think there should be "official" names for some of the common modifications of existing BKP models, like the AV Mule and the ceramic Warpig and Nailbomb (although I quite like C-Pig and C-Bomb as names anyway!)

What should the AV Mule be called?  A mule with a little extra kick...... Buckaroo?
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I think the A5 Mule does need a good name. It is a great pickup.
 C-bomb just sounds like its meant to be rude

A nice set of P90's called "Revolvers"- not quite historically correct maybe but cool name.

I know we've already got a Rory reference.

But a set of Bullfrogs would go down extremely well... :D

(Not sure what they should be though - they could be tele pickups, P90s, or whatever goes in a Corvette)

Black single coils that come in pairs instead of trios. Alternatively they can be had in purple.

The name: Machine Heads!
