Pickups for new Guitar
« on: January 01, 2009, 09:45:15 PM »
I just purchased a 2004 Esp Dave Mustaine sign. with a mahog. neck and body with a flame maple top. I am looking for something that will give me that great Megadeth sound and i play a lot of Opeth.

The stock seymours sound flat and dead compared to my warpig set and VHII i have in my other guitars and i was thinking would a MQ in the neck and a C-Pig in the bridge work?

Sugestions?
All I want to be is normally insane.

a friend of mine has his new sig, the Dean VMNT1
actually he has two of them
one has a miracle man, the other has a ceramic warpig
but his favorite one for Megadeth was the painkiller
he describes the miracle man and warpig picking response as "krown krown" and the painkiller response as '"tchank tchank"

you might like the nailbomb and cold sweat too
the nailbomb will be more organic and smooth, but tighter and clearer than the JB, maybe a bit more aggressive, while the cold sweat will be more balanced on frequencies (no mid bump), definitely tighter, more crunchy, brighter and a bit hotter (that's what Chris Broderick is using)
I'd get a calibrated set of one of these models
since you already have a VHII and a warpig set, I'd get something ceramic now
maybe a painkiller, but the cold sweat will be more versatile and better for opeth
