It's nice, but in effect aren't they just bringing back the "basic" McCarty, having realised that maybe it was a mistake to relegate it to the Korina and McCarty II models?
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

Yep, I think so!  Plus it's a vintage-y guitar, and it's a good home for the new vintage-y 57/08 pickups.

I reckon they'll be £2500-£3000, given the exchange rate at the moment and the fact that these are one step down from the Modern Eagle in the range.

I think that's too expensive for me...

They're very nice indeed  :)  I can't see me buying any other brand in the future.

Get rid of the birds and its very nice indeed :)

by the way, someone on HC is selling this prs, I dont usually like the fancy ones but it looks very nice to me (except the inlay) - http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showpost.php?p=32234646&postcount=89

Not sure how much he wants for it though, but thought I might as well post it if anyones interested..

Ha Ha

Ok well then what is it that makes them nice!

Tonally are they similar to les pauls, SGs Stats? (generally speaking)

And was the neck profile like?

For my sins i sound like paraplegic using a strat neck, but can muster semi decent on a les paul :?

It sounds like a cliche, but the McCarty model sits between a Strat and a Les Paul (but closer to a Les Paul).  I find they have the power and fullness of tone of a Les Paul, with some of the clarity and feel of a Strat.  They have the Wide Fat neck, which is just chunky enough and feels fantastic.  22 frets and warm and round sounding McCarty pickups make it what it was designed to be - a modern take on the old Les Pauls.

The Mira on the other hand, sits between a Tele and an SG.  Loads of snap and a brighter tone.  Incredibly versatile and superbly priced.

I used to think they were all too fancy looking, but their tone and playability completely bowled me over.  They're very consistent from guitar to guitar, and straight out the box they're flawless, well set up and giggable.

You're welcome to try mine out any time  :)

Thats amazing!! I love the Mccartny finishes. I've always found the really fancy finishes are over the top and not my thing. I definitely like old school finishes. I really hope they do this finish on more models.

It truely is a beautiful guitar. I'd part traid in one of your korinas for that one!STUNNING!

Can't you get your mate to have another sale on one of those maple-top Miras?

I like that finish, but disagree with the outline birds (I like the old style ones more) and the price tag.

Dave, do you do any pension saving as well?
