Author Topic: Thinking of getting a Miracle Man set... (Read 3091 times)

I've been reading a lot about BKP for a while now and have finally decided to take the plunge and buy a set. After listening through the soundclips and reading this forum I reckon a Miracle Man set could be the sound I'm looking for.

Couple of questions though - my main guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Classic with the 498R and 500T ceramic humbuckers that I play through a JCM 800 2210 half stack. I find these quite muddy and also have problems with feedback (not the nice sort, the kind of deep mooing noise....) when playing loud. I have another LP fitted with a SD 59 and Jazz and don't get this problem at all. I was thinking it could be a difference between alnico and ceramic magnets, so would the Miracle Man solve this problem?

Also, I haven't been able to find any clips of these pickups doing a clean sound. I like to play a little bit of stuff clean using the neck and bridge pickups, so would the MMs be able to do this reasonably well?

I don't specifically know about the Miracle Man, but i used to have the Gibson 490R & 498T and having changed them to BK VHII's, the step up in quality and definition is superb. So whatever you choose, I'm sure it will improve! :)

Now we just need the high gain monsters on the board to turn up...

Hi there and welcome,

I'm not a high gain shred monster, more a blues rock guy! I played Tim's Foster LP at LGS and couldn't beleive the tones I was getting from it. He had the calibrated MM set. I bought a set and I have them on a Warmoth PRS clone. You can get some great classic rock sounds from them (especially the neck with the Alnico V magnet). THey will give me the nice feedback with a valve amp (lots of harmonic sustain), and I have never had a problem with any other type of feedback from them.

I was going to put up some clips, but I am having incredible RFI problems (partly due to my wife and neighbours who love dimmers on the lights I am sure).

I will see if I can do something this weekend.

I have a set of MM in an Epi LP - you definitely won't be disappointed. They have a great tone and are versatile too from full on high gain shred to clean/bluesly tones.
Go for it man - once you get them, you won't know how you ever played without them!!

Welcome to the forum! I use a cammo covered Miracle Man in the guitar below:

The sound is tremendous for metal! I have never had an issue with feedback, and muddiness is out of the question! The MM is very well balanced, with great overdrive/distortion tones. The bass is tight and focused. It is not what would call 'warm and fuzzy' at all.

As for the clean sound ... yes, the MM can do cleans 'resonably well', as you asked. If you like a plucky, naturally compressed clean sound, then you'll be fine. I have no issues using the MM on clean stuff, but it's probably not part of the MM's job description.
