I've never seen an LP like that before!  Was it some kind of limited edition?

sure! it was part of the gibson guitar of the week program... week 33 model, actually.
for some strange reason the 33 didn't go well, so the price went quickly down... and i could afford it!  :)

it wasn't the only gotw model not being a great success... some of them were just too particular to have a real market, some other... well, guitarists are strange people, they can but bathroom pink sparkling guitars and dislike satin sunburst finishes... i think it has something to do with the different gibson logo on the headstock. someone believed it was a "fake" gibson, i think.

I really like that version of the Gibson logo.

Really like that guitar all in, in fact.

My 24.75 scale GAS is getting to critical levels.

My Swamp Ash SG is a GOTW. It too was cheap, but is a fantastic instrument, especially now it's converted to HSS.

I'm pretty happy with 24.75", 25" or 25.5", and I've been quite Fender-minded recently.

25.5" is it for now though, don't think I'll be investigating the world of baritones just yet.

I couldn't be happier moving from 25.5" to 28"/26.5" multiscale! Much better suits my hands (I have big paws). I never got on with anything smaller than 25.5" scale lengths, they always just felt wrong to me (again, largely because of my big paws!). I find the 28" bass side scale length is really helping me to work on the accuracy of my left-hand finger placement within the fret in order to get the cleanest notes I can.

yep! original gibson pickups (classic 57 neck and classic 57 plus bridge)... it sounds very good, also thanks to the tonal chambers of the classic antique model (now they're putting them in the standard model), i think...
i think sooner or later i will get a set of mules, anyway... alnico II in neck is way too warm for my tastes, and i hope it will sound even better! anyway she's my vintage baby...  :)
