Well, for me she is 'No.1' - albeit customised to my preferences, with ( amongst other things ) B.K.P Manhattans of course ! :)
Manhattans eh? Didn't realise you'd had a change :)
Yes Dave, I was originally going to have the Stormy Mondays gold covered - but there was some delay in the gold plated covers being delivered. Realising that I was really more comfortable with the switch to archtops and small solid state amps, I just knew somewhere up the line I would
have to try at least one Manhattan - every bit as much as much as a player with 'specialist interests' in the other direction would probably hanker to try an overwound set of ceramic Warpigs.
As I had sold some other smaller stuff to my 'dealer' - I thought I would take the plunge on a pair ( so the guitar did not just sound like a standard humbucker guitar in 'fancy dress' ) - and that way I still had the Stormies on hand if I ever needed to kit out a chrome / nickel hardware Jazzer.
However, after hearing these - and enjoying the dramatic reduction in rig size - even the Stormy Mondays and Mississipi queens will probably get sold . The Mules
are the Les Paul - and the Manhattans
are the archtop.
After the S.G. and the valve amps have ( hopefully ) sold ; then the Les Paul and even the Baja tele could go next. The Tanglewood 335 copy covers a lot of bases - and sounds good even with the stock pickups, in the rare event that I ever should get asked to gig in the previous Soul Band / Blues style ; - and now I have grown to enjoy the " one guitar, one amp and a lot of learning to do " ethos ; the Manahattans where my ticket to the future.
I needed a solo project to work on - and not have practice / focus based on some fantasy of gigging ( as I used to do ) again. It still fits the criterea of expanding into a duo / trio idea if ever the chance arrises - and at 50, the chances of ( eventually ) being asked to play a few things after dinner in a year or two - are more likely than being asked to join another band.
Appologies for the slight 'amp' sidetrack - but If you think the guitar / pickups were a change, here is the 100 watt 'stack' I now use :

- To put it in perspective - I think Oscar the cat is taller !
I am sure the good Mrs Twinfan knows where I am coming from and going to on this one - as it's really quite like learning the piano ...

I Blame it all on TwinFan for introducing me to Cleartone cables ...
Cheers !
