Warpig + XT Live metal clip
« on: January 23, 2009, 10:43:10 AM »
Just bought the Pod XT Live a couple of days ago and already I'm getting a tone I quite like. Don't know if I'll use this tone live as I'm not sure how well it's going to sound in a full mix. But none the less, here's a 'chuggy' clip.

Used a Gibson Gothic V with an Alnico Warpig and the XT Live with my own settings.

whoo!
this tone kicks serious ass! very rectifier-oriented, i'd say, but maybe i'm wrong...

after all it seems that the good old POD doesn't sound like a buzzsaw, as many say...

just a personal request... can you attach the tone file? it's very nice indeed.
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)

I used the L6 Chunk Chunk amp setting that you get when you download the Metal Shop pack, took me a bit of tinkering with the EQ and boost's but it was worth it in the end. I'm trying to upload the tone but for some reason I can't find the file. If I find I'll upload it to here.

Good tone.

Starting to think that maybe I need to think more seriously about the POD stuff for recording...

Yep, XT Live gives good results for recording, never tried it in a band situation. You can make it sound like a buzzsaw if you want  - but actually, some of the amps they're modelling do anyway if you listen close. Once you stick it in a mix it rounds out nicely...

(I spent weeks trying to get to know the Bassman model on the XT, wondering what all the fuss was about, decided the model was pants - and then I saw film of Rory Gallagher playing live through a real one, and it IS a fizzy/fuzzy sound if you treat it like that!!)

I've been playing my VOX Tonelab almost exclusively since I got it - these XT clips are making me think I might power up the XT Live again for guitar :D (I use it as a Bass POD at the moment).
