New cab day! My long awaited Mongotone 4x10 cab arrived early friday morning - work was a struggle that day I can tell you  :D .

First impressions are that it sounds very open and absolutely huge! Mids are really well projected and the bottom end is satisfyingly chunky(!) Highs are there but not in any way harsh. I was playing all day yesterday with a big grin on my face. The build quality is superb - note that the plywood baffle is stained on the inside and out - a nice touch. everything else is mahogany, including the internal bracing. The nitro finish is deep and glassy - its just an immensly satisfying thing. You may be able to tell I'm quite chuffed :D

And for anyone who might think that 10" speakers are in some way a lesser option to the more regular 12s need to try the celestion vintage g10s - I'm very impressed with how they handle dynamics - they have real weight and punch!

Anyway - enough of my yakking - here's some pics...

Actually its only slightly heavier than the 2x12 that its replaced - the delivery guy carried it up 4 flights of stairs with one arm!

Its all mahogany except for the baffle board which is birch ply! I've been having way too much fun with it - I'm expecting the neighbours to come hammering at the front door - not that there's much chance of me hearing them  :)

Very nice cab!  :)

You're right about 10" speakers. I used a 4x10 for a fair while, and I regret sellling it. In fact I have an order to build one, and might just do two while I'm at it.

Nice amp.

That look very nice indeed. I think I'd be worried about marking that finish. The pictures showed the scale of it too. Nice one.

Cool! You wait 'til your band mates start bringing vases and oraments to put on top! How do I know? Coz that's what my bandmates do when I use mine

Mine replaced an old Mesa 4 x 12 tall cab.. and as soon as I got it I gigged it the same night. As you say very warm, big and open sounding, my mates had no problem hearing me like they did with the Mesa. And yes the build quality is exceptional,  hurts when you scratch it too. Here's mine..

Absolutely love the flame on the mahogany of that one! I hope if your bandmates are up to that sort of thing that they at least protect the finish with doilies! Or prehaps bring a pot of tea with a plate of hobnobs!

You shouldn't joke my friend... they really DID bring vases and ornaments! It's not actually flame, it's ribbon mahogany... it was the actual cab reviewed in guitarist magazine a couple of years ago!

Enjoy yours... they're great.
