Slash on PRS'

Looking for a set of bare knuckles to put on my PRS Custom 24 with coil tap.
Looking for an all rounder. Classic Slash Sound to Heavy Rock.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated thanks :)

Slash sounds is always suggest Alnico II Stormy Mondays...

What do you mean by heavy rock? Somebody can take it as led Zeppelin, others as Pantera :)

I wanted to bring them up as well. I find them very "Slash" in my Edwards LP.

I have Cold Sweats in my Custom 24. Not really very Slash-y but great replacements for the stock HFS/VB set if you like that vibe.

I would agree that the SMs are definitely worth considering, but would also agree that "heavy rock" might be in need of clarification. :)  That said, the Mules are generally touted as good all-rounders without getting too far away from that starting Slash vibe (though they're A4, rather than A2, but still very,very PAF).

thanks for the input guys :) Tim's suggested SMs for slash too. I agree, heavy rock can be anything! I just want to play Velvet Revolver :) Ill be interested to see how much difference the body thickness and shape will make to the sound

The shape of PRS don't will change nothing the tone IMO, but the thickness and the slightly longer scale may... You'll not have the exactly tone of a LP, but will get very close...

+ 1 for SM's for Slash but possibly not heavy rock.

Smooth silky leads through a Marshall JCM yes, for heavy rock riffing Id recommend something else if you want tightness and a bit of a kick.  They are a very neutral and blanced PuP with warm bottom.

I've not tried Mules but they sound like they have a little more kick and will still do slash

IMO, you can do Slash with any number of pickups. He uses Duncan A2 Pros, so A2 Stormy Mondays are the obvious choice, but I really think it's easier to get a better sound out of A4 magnets (because A2 tends to have an annoyingly undefined, loose bass). A4, to my ears, keeps most of the benefits of A2 (mainly smooth treble), while having a more balanced EQ and more pleasant bass, so I find it easier to work with and more versatile (it definitely sounds better under more gain to me).

I suggest the Abraxas.
They'll nail that smooth Slash tone, probably just as well as the Stormy Mondays, but they'll hold a lot of versatility as well.
