How much gear do you own, and how much do you actually use?

Guitars:

Gibson LP + Rebell Yells - Main gigging guitar
US Strat + Apaches - for an alternative and backup to the LP
Squire Strat - use it a lot for practice/ learning songs at home
Simon & Patrick acoustic - hardly used these days but probably not worth much

Amps:

65Amps Marquee head + 2x12 cab - main live rig
Fender HRD - backup for the 65Amps

Pedals:

Korg Pitch Black tuner
Keeley Java Boost
Vexter Box of Rock

All on the pedal board and get used regularly.

40 - 50 gigs a year pays for most of the above. I often think it would be nice to get an SG or an LP Junior but, when it it comes to the crunch, I realise I've got enough to give me what I need. I also have to consider what I can realistically transport to gigs and rehearsals.

Oh, I have an acoustic that I almost never use.

And my new bass has basically rendered my old bass obsolete, unless I want another tuning. I used to play in loads of different tunings, E through drop A, but all my guitars have drifted toward C#/Drop B now because want the different sounds in the one tuning more than the different tunings.

Still, thats a 50£ bass and a cheap acoustic (dont know how much) in ~13,000 or 14,000 worth of stuff. Pretty neglegable.

I kind of collect, but cycle the guitars so that they all get used. I only use the TC at home and in the studio, with my pedals used live. I've just started running a stereo rig with both heads covering low end to high with my QR. I use a Morley Tripler for this, which is'nt too bad. As the band play in drop C, I only use my Samick abomination and the Jim root for gigs. I'm looking to setting up a home studio so will make more use of the stuff I have, as soon as I finisj soundproofing part of the garage. Looking to get me a new band soon operating in some more conventional tunings.

I like lots of guitars and stuff.  I don't need them and unlike Philly, I have no guilt about them  .  When I was a pro musician a long time ago, I had an SG Junior and an Aria Strat and a Marshall 50 and 4x12.   I swapped the Marshall for a Fender Temolux and 2x12 because it fit my car better!  During that time though, I went through some nice guitars, so I decided that if I had enough money I wouldn't sell a guitar that I owned unless it was really not what I wanted or I needed money.  That's why I have a lot of stuff!

Not completely... And by now I've the strat I build on a guitar making course in Brazil, the Warmoth Telecaster and a Warmoth L5S body that will build a neck...

Amp I got a 30w plexi clone with 2x12" cab...

Playing nothing, will try to take lessons again and try to get a band, never played with a band...

and that's where PODs rule supreme... instead of taking useless lections you could buy one of those and play for hours along your favourite songs... playing alone teaches absolutely nothing about playing in a band, in my opinion... i've known some hyper technical guitarists that made wonders in guitar shops but sucked severely in bands...

Had a XT live, never had a tone that I was satisfied/inspired me to play...

That's why I'll try to enter in this band, that the guitar player (I think he don't know what's bend) and vocal sucks, but they play good with a band... I want to be a player in band, no a guitar hero :D

About 4 pedals.....

I'm now operating a 1 in 1 out policy which stops me buying too much (aside from the fact I have little money).  To me having more is counterproductive, too much choice stops me concentrating on playing and I find only guitars that are played regularily stay in good shape.

Also I'm conscious I don't need anymore and that I'd feel I was falling into the consumerism trap of needing more more more. Also, some of these fine timbers we like must be in fairly short supply?

I seem to manage with the above for session work and gigs although I would like:-

A Tokai 335 at the expense of the GS
A very nice does-it-all amp will be my next purchase
A Dano at the expense of...er....a pedal?

That said, I certainly don't judge the 'collectors' some people have more guitars, some have less.  In fact the collectors like Twinfan Phil King are great so we can all try these amazing guitars!

Plenty of current, cannot possibly hum as no AC component to be filtered out.
Also safe from singers spilling beer on pedals with no mains voltages on stage.

Use the TT and the 7 for most of my gigs with both bands I'm in, and all effects bar the delay. I'll take the Aria to the metal bands gigs but mostly use my 7. With my cover band and at jams I'll usually take the 7, and my amp if it's a jam I've been to before and the house amps are cr@p.

Pretty much use everything I own at some time or other.

I'm not even in the in the same league as Phil King!  :lol:  He has some great stuff  :)
