R.I.P.

It's amazing how many members of Skynyrd, the Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot etc have died young (under 60, anyway).  I suppose the rock'n'roll lifestyle plays a part, but I really do wonder about life expectancy in the deep South.  :?

Sad. I feel a bit weird as I have been watching the DVD called Freebird The Movie this week and it features the tribute band consisting of survivors. RIP Billy. I saw the original line up years back at Knebworth when I was a teenager. One of those tragic bands.

I saw the original band at Newcastle City Hall and they were supporting Golden Earring. I think it was their first tour outside of the US. Happy days.

...yes, it is brutal!!(I live in Sweet Home Alabama...take it from me...)however, it was most def. that r and r lifestyle, mixed with the classic lower middle class, don't give a damn about anything but livin' hard and fast mentality-and boy, did they!!He died from cardiac problems...reads like he missed an appointment with his cardiologist..called 9-1-1(emergency) and said he could hardly breathe..found him dead-I have a serious heart condition (diagnosed at age 36...), and I have not logged the miles these boys have(drank a lot of beers and tequila shots, but that is baby poo compared to the aforemetioned..!)-I can tell you that the heart is the #1 killer , and that the medical world has a LONG way to go in treating the heart-IMO, still a "young" science-there is a lot of fried food down here..lots of uneducated , toothless wonders, but I am not one...and still, I have the heart of an old fart!!!! TAKE CARE OF THAT TICKER,BOYS!!!!!FLY HIGH FREEBIRD(where's my beer??)RIP!!

-there could be another controversy as well...seems like there has to be a certain # of original members in band in order to legally use the LS name...looks like we are down to one original now, unless RVZ's widow counts Ricky Medlocke as one(Artimus Pyle has been awarded sex offender status and has fallen out with the LS estate...)
stay tuned

Very sad. Always liked LS. Had my interest rekindled when I realised he had played piano on Kid Rock's hit All Summer Long.
