Well... that was quick... i've wanted a CU or CE 24 for a long time, and i finally got to try one... a week ago? james's emerald CU 24, and now i've got one of my own.

A guitar which at first i hated because, simply, i thought i could never afford one... and now i have one coming in the post! just cost me a shade under 800 pounds thanks to this 10% off PayPal voucher :) if it weren't for that, i wouldn't be getting it.

It's a 1999 CE Maple Top 24, in a breathtaking shade of purple that i've just completely fallen in love with, i've decided i prefer bolt on necks over set necks after trading about 12 or so guitars last year, so this is definitely the perfect axe for me! I've always seen PRS Custom 24's as the ideal instrument for just about anything, and having friends that agree really has helped me spend the cash, also my little brother keeps telling me to stop buying lots of cheap guitars and just get one awesome one. He's on to something. This and my 50 quid super awesome CSL strat and i'm set.

It's a bit flash... but, surely, it should be? I'm not a fan of plain looking expensive guitars, i fail to see the point most of the time.

This is my first 'super serious' guitar ever and I'm so rediculously excited! and i can keep my Laney VH100R as i found this japanese DS-1 sounds really good through it at low low volumes.

And the lord has blessed me with short shifts next week... everythings going smoooooth  8)

Anyway, here are some pictures, more to come when it arrives on Tuesday/Wednesday. Oh god, i have to sleep between now and then... it isn't going to happen!





Good times... good times... my heart melts when i look at it... (maybe theres something wrong with me :s)

So... What BKPs are you putting in it?!  :lol:

It's a great looking guitar, I'm sure you'll be really happy with it.  I like purple guitars too.

I hate to say this as i HATE PRS guitars witha  passion as they just look really odd to me im much more of a LP/V kinda guy

but i actually really like that.... i think its the colour

Now, obviously I'm not a fan  :lol: But I prefer the CEs to all of their set neck guitars, bit more spanky and defined, to me. Which is obvious, with their more Fender-y construction.

So yeah, with monster vagueness, if you say a Custom 22 is halfway between a les paul and strat, then a CE22 is a further 20% to the Strat end.

that's very nice indeed... one of those colours which shouldn't work, but does (and works very well indeed!) :D

that 10% paypal voucher wouldn't be the one they sent out just before christmas, would it? if so, i thought it expired already? maybe it's a different one...

that's some good advice there. you don't have to spend a fortune to get good guitars, especially if you go second-hand or find good deals on NOS stuff, but certainly under a certain price it'll be the exception rather than the rule if it's much better than "alright" (in my experience, anyway). i like having a bunch of guitars so i can get different tones, but i'd definitely rather have one nice guitar than 3 mediocre ones. :)

Hmm... i'd like to keep it stock for at least six months, financial reasons mostly, but the VH2 is my favourite pickup, or the Rebel Yell which has really great clips... I just want a all round good rock/heavy rock/modern rock or metal like Alter Bridge-ish at most, need a versatile pickup in there for sure.

I will do my best! as has already been said, it should just be a bit more strat like, which i will love. After trading a lot of guitars last year i've really learnt what i like and don't like, and set necks are one of them, i'm a bolt on lover for sure!

If i can make it to the BKP meet, we should do some side by side tests, see what the real differences are in tone with your beauties.

Yeah, that's what im hoping for, i do like the Customs but i'm so used to how a bolt on responds that set necks do actually feel really strange, almost soft for me... at least the one's i've had so far.

Yeah that colour on anything else... or even a plain top, just would not work, do they even do this colour anymore? i don't think they do... special! yes!  8)

Aye, mines valid up until Feb 12th, i got it today! VERY good timing for it i can't believe my luck!

Cheers, for no apparent reason the colour reminds me of Feline, maybe he did a guitar with a similar point way back.
