Yeah I go to the Musician every so often on a Monday, the bloke who hosts the open mic night there is hilarious (unintentionally) I'm trying to learn some acoustic instrumentals so I can get up and play something.

all the kids i work with have never even seen snow like we had on monday... they had to be in school knowing full well every other local school was off playing in the stuff.  I felt quite sorry for them.

I also felt sorry for myself as i would have liked an extra day off but i am aware that is just me being lazy.  i do remember my school closing for snow but it was on top of a hill and none of the teachers could get to it.. i also remember spending a lot of less severe snow days in school  because we used to steal the dinner trays for use as sledges- i think we got more days of for bomb scares, it was the early 90's!!

So our head decided to leave the decision yesterday till the last minute.  It payed off because to everyones surprise it ended up being not as bad as expected and he gets to say we are the reliable school that wont close when other 'weaker, less relaible' ones will.      sure would have helped moral to give an inch though

yeah, definitely. we get kickass snow like that so rarely, that the kids should be allowed out to have fun in it. i understand that people don't want the schools to close so they don't have to run looking childminders etc., but maybe let them out for a while when they're at school, then? though that's probably a nightmare for supervision etc.

The rest of the world all had a good laugh at Britain, 5 million off work, schools shut and 3 billion in lost business.

actually, that's probably less than we'd have lost with gordon and alistair in charge on a normal day. maybe it was their ploy all along.

I don't see your point, how much do you think it would cost to grit every road in England, and for every car to have 2 sets of wheels?

They can keep laughing, 3 million of us are off work with the family pissing about in the snow. It's us who are luaghing.  I don't want to go to work.

Sadly I can work from home, but luckily my emails are shagged so I can't actually do anything.

Might walk to the shop in a bit.

It funny how the media keep refering to the snow as 'chaos'. It's a bit of bloody snow, not burning hot sulphur.

I can still drive my car around and get about, I'm not confined to my bedroom with a hot water bottle, canned food and thermal clothes.
