Martamp v6-20 video
« on: February 07, 2009, 10:04:17 AM »
There's been a few questions asking how Martamps sound recently, so I made this little clip this morning.

It was done with the cr@ppy laptop mic so it's not amazing quality-too much volume sent it into a spaz too... but it gives a good idea of the tone imo.

513-cable-amp, any reverb is my wooden floor

That's nice.

Pretty gainy, really, given the high-gain debate with Martamp that's been going on here.  Certainly enough gain for my style....

How does it take pedals at the front?

Mark.

Yea, it has some balls to it.

Takes pedals fine, in-fact I have a hbe power screamer for a lead boost and dd-3 plugged into it 90% of the time.

Very nice. Enough gain for me too.   Good articulation, fairly tight. Nice work Martin !!   And good playing too, TCPMoD.

Wow, thanks for putting that up, Lew.  :D

Nice playing!

Power's a nominal 20W.

No.

Lets face it, thousands of amps look quite similar. It's part of the deal of having a box with a load of knobs on, with labels, and a few jack sockets.  By the very nature of what they are, they will often look quite similar. So, no I don't think your's looks particularly the same as anyone else's amps.

Looks great and sounds great!

Really good playing too, very very good.

Those 513s seem to have a voice of their own, which is surprisingly refreshing.

Thankyou Alan. I thought I was going mad at one point.

A chap on musicradar.com is committed to the idea that my amps look like Matamps. (Which are noticeable because of their chamfered cab fronts, twin grab handles, full trafolite front plates, cinemascope logos etc. none of which mine have.) Teeth gritting time.  :(

Jon, you're spot on with the Hiwatt reference; Lew (or TCPMoD) sent me a pic of a Hiwatt to follow when building the amp.
