5xNAD!
« on: February 08, 2009, 09:03:18 PM »

Cliff just released V7.0 for the Axe, has 5 new amps, I just recorded quickly without any tweakage.
(used the Edwards with VHIIs)

Here we go, all done in neutral settings, nothing changed just amp and on the 5150 played with the Bias.
Please excuse this is quickly done, no tweakage whatsoever.

Played with a Les Paul through VHT2502 and Bogner 4x12.

The most remarkable thing is the speed with which it improves. I mean there was just 1 week ago a release with some new features and an Egnater Rebel model, and boom, suddenly I read yesterday about 5150, VHT and Ueber to be expected, and bang, he launches the thing with completely new features, like adjustable bias in the amps, also each amp can be run in Class A, B or A/B, and then ther is also a DrZ and new MarkIIs, plus the Deliverance is modeled in both modes etc.

That Cliff guy is a real geek and I so hope that he will be around for much longer!

After having spent some more time with V7.0 and the VHT poweramp yesterday, I have to say that I am overwhelmed at the sheer depth and responsiveness of this rig now.

Cliff posted that he completely reworked the power amp section of his models, and it clearly shows. All sounds much more lively, rounded and defined.

The quality of the new amps is also outstanding. That D60 is a real beast. And the Dr. Z has such a nice shimmer and  great transients, unbelievable!

By the way I also strung the Edwards with a set of Eric Johnson GHS strings (.10-50) and the added meat on the bass side really pays off. I changed from the normal stop tail through stringing to the Page/Bonamassa method of winding around the stop tail, to reduce bridge angle. Very nice indeed!

It's so much fun to have new gear without paying extra!!

I want one
but i got no money  :(
are they easy to get good tones through or do you have to put in a lot of time first going through menus etc? had a look on the site and the features are pretty crazy, lots of things you can adjust that ive never even thought about

Do you tell the preamp what you are outputting to? Does it change the tone depending on whether you are outputting to a power amp, line out, etc?

Also, does it have a digital output? And if it does, at what bit rate does it output? Is it S/PDIF or AES/EBU?

Thanks, Hunter!

In the global settings you can define:
Power amp sim on/off
Power amp Thump on/off
Cab Sim on/off

When I play it through my rig I have Pwr amp sim on, Thump and Cab off.

It has a digital out and in. Out is XLR or RCA. In is RCA. It is 24bit/48KHz.
