Sooooo as you may have seen from seconds out and other forums I'm looking for a used higain amp.

So far on the list is...!

cornford mk50 and cornford 4x12 - £1200
bogner shiva £900
mark3 £1100
soldano hotrod £800
dual rectum fryer £900
vht ultra super lead £1100
vht sig x £1100

Any one else know of any other deals around or have any opinions on the above? The vht ultra lead has me really interested but the stigma of the new vht vs fryette brand is a big turn off ... silly perhaps but still....

Don't know about a lot of the amps you're looking at, but the Shiva is not a high gain amp - no more than a JCM800 really. The Bogner's you might want to look at are the XTC (maybe a bit low gain to be considered a high gainer) and the Uberschall.

It all depends on your budget really. I really like Diezel amps, personally. I'd go for an Einstein (high gain with a slightly more vintage feel) if I had the cash.

Also, you need to look at a Peavey 5150/6505 -  even though they are a bit cheaper, they are reasonably well made, and have a classic high gain sound. You may love them !

There's also Engl, which are not priced too unreasonably in the UK.

Cheers both  8)

The budget is no more than £1200 or so hence looking at used. I've not seen any used Diezels but the VH4 looks tasty.

Highgain for brootalz or highgain for creamy leads?

If brootalz, you need an Uebershall: http://www.bogneramplification.com/customshop/UberPatrick1.mp3

don't know about that - I do like the 2-ch ones better, but thats just coz they have the classic DR tone whereas the newer 3-ch ones aren't as gainy and have more of a 'Marshally' vibe.
