Nice one Hunter, I'll read up on it.
Dave-I want it to be able to do heavy but not limited to it if you get me.
I want something tight and agresive with a fast attack and at-least 2 chans, the clips on the Diezel site are as close as I've heard 8)
ok, thanks.
diezels are nice. i've only tried the vh4, i did really like it. expensive, though (not a problem if you really like it, of course).
engls are probably worth a look too... just avoid the fireball as it's not too versatile.
brunetti xlr-evo, as i already mentioned.
the cornford heads might get to the modern stuff- i've only tried the combos, to me they could do modern metal at a pinch but were more suited to hard rock/classic metal... but i hear the heads might get a bit more modern. worth a try, anyway.
soldano... really liked the avenger i tried. again, can get modern but not limited to that.
vhts are sweet too, but expensive for what you get i think... again, not a problem if you really like it, but like the diezels, worth bearing in mind.
oh yeah, bogners are sweet too, i can't remember how heavy the ecstacy got (but it was awesome). haven't tried the ueberschall unfortunately. again, there's the price thing, they aren't cheap.
big problem when they get really expensive (e.g. diezel, vht, engl se, bogner) is that you then start wondering if you might be better off splitting the budget to get two amps aimed at different things. that way you don't need to worry so much about versatility, and you can get an amp which is perfect for a certain tone. often the more expensive amps have better tone... but often you're also paying for features, umpteen channels etc. too, which you might not need (especially if you go for two amps).
probably not helping, i'm just going through everything i've tried and saying you might as well try it...
