I fail to see the difference between this and carbon panel speakers that were around before even the invention of the speaker cone.

Also the stereo effect would surely only work if you were in the ideal position whereas with cone speakers there is some leeway. It would be about as useless as the IR headphones that were available for a short while until people worked out that if they turned their heads even slightly the signal would cut out.

And what use is an advert that you can dodge by shifting your weight to the side?

I'll stick to my woofer technology thank you.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

Very very cool indeed :) So many applications for this... use them for monitors so there's less feedbacking... use them in front of billboards, so as you walk past you hear the advert as well... use them in museums etc. so as you're standing in front of an attraction, you can hear the blurb about it, but you don't have all the residual noise of the other messages.

Clever stuff, i'll have to try and find some more out about how they work though, as i'm not getting how they build the column out of ultrasound.

Cheers for posting :)

It'd sound very strange with this as a speaker... quite like plugging into a hi-fi i'd expect!

I'm sure you'd at least need a cab simulator like a Palmer or some such, and maybe even a dummy load as what ohmage would these be? Hmm... or if it even works like that...

Preferring either Davey or Swan as the true originators whilst Edison merely found a better filament?

That kind of thing Jonathan yeah.My old Physics master had a thing about it and I inherited it. In reality it didn't stop me listening to the original clip-I was intending to come back to it later-just haven't managed it yet.

You are somwhat right Mr. 38th, but not altogether right.

As for the Speaker:
I see the benifit in this technologhy, however, not so much for my application of sound projection.

I know what you mean Mr Cord, I just remember my Physics teacher had an axe to grind about this and if I recall correctly, he said that there was another who could claim to be inventor of the filament light bulb( not just Swan)  but I cannot remember the name or details-but the Edison tirade was often heard.

The speaker obviously knew what he was talking about. He claimed to have invented the Jabba bluetooth earpiece and has made millions off his inventions.

The whole lightbulb claim is like the airplane or even the car. I guess it's all who gets the pattent first in some cases.

I have found a use for this technology already
I will connect a high power version to my radio and blast planet rock into the cars of Croydon's "Yoof" who insist on playing Hip Hop in their cars at stupid volumes whilst stuck in traffic outside of my place, without having to disturb anyone else.

I finally got around to hearing the guy and it was indeed interesting. I shouldn't have been so dismissive of him.
