i've only tried the screamer... i'd say, "yeah", but i'm not sure i'd want to recommend it if modern metal is all you're after. it's more an amp which can get to modern metal if you play a range of stuff.

Don't get a combo. Get a head and a 2x12 if you want something more portable than a 4x12
