need help ! New bridgepickup for my xiphos 7
« on: February 13, 2009, 12:38:12 PM »
Hey !
I want to swap these shitety d-activator pickups of my xiphos 7 !
I play metal and hardcore with fast picking and need articulate good chunk and highs because
there is just one guitar in my Band. Wich pickup is the best for me ??
I took a look at the Painkiller and and Cold Sweat..... my Amp is a VHT Pitbull UL.
In my other guitar ( apex 2) is a Lundgren M7 , but I think more mids and highs were good, but I love it`s chunk

My guitar is tuned to A , is the MM very articulate ??

from what i´ve heard, the painkillers are rediculously clear, with a very "chuggachugga" kind of sound, and lots of articulation. the other pickup i´ve heard recommended for mahogany is the Cold Sweat.

i´m trying to choose pickups myself :P

but to break things down, what you want is a high-mids oriented, tight-sounding (clear and bright) pickup, to "balance" the low tuning and the fact that the body is mahogany (which has lots of low mids. it´s a dark sounding wood)

Email Tim, tell him your guitar, specs, tuning, music and the sound you want to achieve and he'll know which one is best for you!

today I played my japanse LP copy with the Cold Sweat bridge after a long time
damn... I almost forgot how awesome it is!
this thing sounds punchy and thick as hell and the mid crunch is awesome
I loved that guitar with the Miracle Man too, and was even punchier, but the Cold Sweat has the mojo!
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

Go with the Painkiller. I have a VHT Pittbull UL too and with guitars spec'd out like yours the PK is a perfect match! Feel free to PM me if you need any more info :)
