NGD/What Pickup???
« on: February 14, 2009, 10:13:29 AM »
I've just recieved my new addition to my Maverick family-this time its an X1. I am in the process of auditioning with a really good metal band and thought it was a good excuse!!

The spec is;

Body: 2 piece centre joint basswood.
Neck: 1 piece carved Canadian maple with reverse headstock.
Scale Length: 25 inches.
Fingerboard: AAA Grade Indian rosewood.

The bridge pickup thats in it is a cheap replacement, so its time for a BKP!! Its going to be used for really tight riffing mainly so needs a nice tight bottom and. Im running it through a Spider Valve. I am thinking a Painkiller is the way to go-am i right?

Also, would a covered pickup have a different tone to an open one??

Painkiller sounds like a good shout. Could also put a miracle man in there for what you described... Have you asked Tim yet? :)

I've been thinking all week about this, and I think im gonna go with a nailbomb. Ive already got one in my F1 and really love the tone. Do the covered ones have different tonal qualities to the open ones?
