Shappi Khorsandi.  Intelligent, funny and she looks damn fine too.

I just had to resurrect this nomination, as she has been on the television tonight ( a repeat of 'Live at the Apollo' )  and she appealed on many levels.  I enjoyed the routine - and thought she looked 'real world' lovely.  :)

She was on "This Week" last Thursday too.

I like your "'real world' lovely" description.  These perfect young actresses and models are all fine and dandy, but the likes of us lot are never going to meet anyone like that - and even if we did, they'd look down their surgically-enhanced noses at us.  Let's accept and embrace the real world!  :)

Off-topic, but I've been thinking recently that stand-up comedy is one of the few branches of the performing arts where you can't succeed on looks alone.  You can be a hugely successful actor, presenter - even musician - with not one iota of talent, so long as you look good.  But stand-ups have to do it the hard way, writing their own material and winning over hostile audiences.... and to look at, most of them are ordinary to downright ugly.  It's all about talent, and all the better for it.

I don't think she's funny at all but agree with the "real world lovely" thing!

I think Shappi Khorsandi is extremely attractive, but I think her comedy is mediocre.

And she's been a waste of a Question Time panellist twice!

Still, I'd winch her, aye.

Dunno, are you bored enough to read the preceding 65 pages?

Always quite liked the younger Sawalha.  I have to admit I don't find her sister entirely unattractive either - more personality-wise though.

A 'definate' there .  :D

I had not realised that she was the sweet , sweet voice in that charming song.  Having just properly caught up with this thread , I must also mention that Julia Sawalha is also one of those ladies I'd like to meet ; just for the relaxed joy of spending time with, perhaps walking by the river, laughing together - and watching the sun play on her face and hair. Then to a cozy coffee shop and there, discovering the very essence of the woman \ women concerned.

In both of the above cases, there is again, that sense of being 'natural' - and as we were saying  about Shappi, 'real world lovely'. You can imagine ( in the emotive / comfortable sense ) waking up next to any of those ladies, and the tousled, un-made up - bad hair version of each, making you conclude that life was indeed treating you very well.  :)

Very nice.  :)

Blimey Derek, you're getting more poetic every day!  :D

Thank you Philly, very kind of you to say .  :)

I was an accidental poet and I didn't even know it.

I really must start mixing my filter coffee a bit weaker ; as I sit here typing somewhat effusively, with eyes like soup plates.  I tend to type directly as I am inwardly thinking ; which (in turn ) does unintentionally  get a bit' random' .  I am perhaps one of the few people who can even hi-jack his own thread, get it back on topic - and subsequently wreck it again. More 'tourettes' than testimony.

" Nurse ! the screens please ".

Cheers !  :)

 Yeah...

I'd noticed the "more poetic thing" going on there FF, I'd put it down to some good thing happening in your life... or possibly boredom at work, or possibly even the early onset of the male menopause

But, I have to admit I cannot cast any stones about "typing as I think"... it's all I know how to do... I talk like that as well...
