Which one in my Carvin
« on: February 19, 2009, 11:26:26 PM »
Hey guys. I'm thinking of getting a new pickup to put in my Carvin DC. Currently it's got a Duncan JB. Which is ok, but it's a bit too bright for the Carvin. I'd like something a bit warmer with a little less output to match the stock Carvin single coils a bit better.

The guitar is neck thru, mahogany body with 5 piece neck (maple + mahogany), ebony fretboard, SS frets and floyd rose. It's a bright sounding guitar (not too bright) which will be used for a range of styles soon, not really heavy stuff though. So what would suit best for it?

Crawler? It is known for adding warmth in a bright guitar. I don't know the exact details of the output, but to me the perceived output is about the same as a JB, though the dc resistance is a little higher. Worked wonders in my les paul, which was too bright to my ears. It now sounds big and fat but still very clear. It should work well with single coils too since it was designed for use in both Strats and LPs.
