Both with 9's though  :P

Lucky for you I can't make it - I'd rust/bend through those in minutes

Hope it goes well (or at least well enough to do it again when my parents aren't visiting!)...

Kill two birds with one stone Andy and bring them along!

Two step bends is why I use 9's. I generally pull them around a lot and just got used to them really.

I get confused by "two step bend" - do people mean "2 frets worth" (ie one tone) or do they mean two tones? I always assume the first...

Anyway (assuming the first), I think I'd be doing 4 step bends if I tried a guitar with 9s on!!

I'm quite happily bending a full tone (even down on the second fret) with 11s, in places I even use a tone and a half... at the moment I'm working on trying to keep 2-string full tone bends in tune. Eg 2nd/3rd string at the 7th fret (D/F#), bend them both to obtain E/G# in tune...

Some people might be thinking "why?" (the neighbours probably are)

I think the latter - Americans always call a semitone a half step and a tone a (full) step.  Not that Johnny's American, o'course.

So 4 frets.  I think.  I'm confusing myself now.  :?

Well I meant two frets. Anyway doing that with 11's is Sadomachocism! It must work against you playing for long periods of time?

Go for the middle ground - 10s.

I've got them on my Feline Lion. In another thread they were saying 10's suit a Les Paul better and think thats right.

I don't know, doesn't seem to affect me. Anything less now seems somewhat floppy. I can cope with 10s, but I suspect 9s would be crazy for me. Still, you do seem to get used to whatever you've got after a an hour or so (this is based on switching between fender/gibson scale lengths and high/low actions).

But I much prefer the sound/feel of bends with 11s - seems to be more meat to it...

Anyway, over my, er, "career" I've always been told I have very strong fingers in comparison to other men  One lady described me as "violently gentle" in that department - this was a good thing apparently... (and I was only using 10s back in those days )
