Personally I'd go for the Engl Fireball that's being sold here.

That's fair enough, well why not go to a shop near you to try-before-you-buy? I know I'm kinda stating the obvious, but when you fall in love with a piece of equipment, it won't sound exactly the same as one you'd get discount'd online. :P

Try somewhere large and local maybe?

hahaha my old JVM is there! Sorry to beat you to the Engl Blackmore ;)

Well why not trek up to Worthing then go to Brighton try something in GAK for yourself? I dare say, the customer service there does leave something to be desired.

I do really hate shops that advertise stupidly low prices but NEVER have stock .

I do sometimes wonder if they actually stock the item or they are just trying to make it hard for shops to sell anything at a price that covers things like wages and shop rent etc.

Sounds about right!

Ok, well think of it this way then. Is the Peavey reliable enough for you to take a price drop and not play it first hand? If so, then bite the bullet!

That's the problem with GAK. Their customer service is pretty much extinct! I'm not kidding (..and apologize in advance)they told me to show the cash if I was to try something or bugger off. Real great that is.

If you're going to buy new, buy from Manson's - it'll be much easier should you need the use a warranty if you can get it back to the shop yourself.
And don't pay the price on the amp - at the moment you have a lot of bargaining power!

I recently bought a £600 Schecter for £500 - no haggling, I just told the guy I wanted the guitar and how much I was willing to spend.
Or was that haggling   :?  Well, I didn't need to twist his arm  :D

Being that I am in the automotive business (BMW) I know exactly what you mean. It seems there is always one out there that makes it hard to overcome price with things like buing local, customer service and warranty service too.
