Suggestion for Pickups for Squire Esprit
« on: February 24, 2009, 01:51:25 PM »
Howday everyone,

Im just about to get ahold of a Squire Masters Series Esprit.  This guitar is based on Robben Fords Signiture guitar.  Im looking for some suggestions for replacement pickups for the Duncan Design that already on the guitar.
I have heard a sample of a 335 with Riff Raffs.  My initial reaction is that the 335 would be quite similar in tone due to the tone chambers in the Esprit.

Im looking to keep the nice smoothness of the Esprit with a nice kick when i dirty her up a bit.
Any other suggestions?

Elliot

I have an original 1980s Fender Esprit - its a bit different to the Squier version in that it is alder with a maple cap.  The Squier is mahogany with a maple cap.  But their construction is nearer to a chambered Les Paul than a 335.  My choice in mine are Mules - but I reckon Stormy Mondays, PG Blues or Mules would sound great.  What tones are in your head for this guitar?
BKPS: Milks, P90s, Apaches, Mississippi Queens, Mules, PG Blues, BG FP 50s, e.60s strat custom set

Well the guitar should be delivered to me on Monday or Tuesday!
Im looking to keep the character of the guitar pretty much as Robben Ford has.  Its quite a unique sounding guitar as it is.  Maybe make it a little smoother at the neck and make sure the bridge has a good kick to it.
I know thats a little vague! ha
