There's one in town for £199....are they any good, it's in a pawnshop and they don't let you try the gutars......bit like ebay they say!! :evil:

I don't like that guys name on the end.....time to get the sander out....

I would guess that £199 is an awesome price considering you'll be getting a mahogany body and quality hardware, it's just made in Korea. Great cheap guitar to BKP. And what's wrong with Mark Tremonti? He's amazing :twisted:.

Never played one myself but a friend who's had one from new, says it took a bit of work to improve some of the detail like the nut overhanging the neck, set up, blemishes in the finish etc. He reckons it's basiically a good guitar to upgrade if your going to keep it so he's fitted DiMarzios (apparently the pickups aint too great).

At £199 you can't really go wrong if it looks decent since they seem to be going for £300 - £400.

Know what you mean about the logo :!:

Thanks guys - may have to go and have a second look!

Nothing wrong with Tremonti, I object to having players names on the end of the guitar I'm using...possible exception of Les Paul!!

I have heard the SE range is supposed to be alot better than most of the competition in that range, like you say though the "Tremonti" on the headstock would have to go...

i played a santana se once. it was apaullingly bad. don't know anything about the tremonti se tho, other than that tremonti sucks.(IMHO) :roll:

I don't think it's an exceptional guitar... for £199 it's a good enough deal, but do you really need it?

The pickups are a bit gash really and the whole SE range has a kind of cheapness to the feel... it's wholly playable but it doesn't feel "solid" to me.  I dunno, the necks just feel plasticy.. all the SE's I've played have been scarily light for mahogany guitars too..

For £199 if you need it, get it.  Otherwise just keep the cash until something better comes along IMO

edit - Saying that, I did get a nice-ish tone out of the soapbar SE (singlecut model) but I think they're something like £400 odd new and for £500 you can get a Gibson Faded Double Cut with P90s anyway..

I had a singlecut SE Soapbar a while back, and it was a seriously good guitar. The SE Tremonti is exactly the same guitar, except it's routed for humbuckers.

Overall, the guitar is kind of like a singlecut SG, thin(ish) mahogany body, the Soapbar had the wide fat neck profile, which was really nice to play, the tuners were solid, and the bridge was bob on for intonation.

I think that for £199, it's a steal. If you're after an SG type vibe, then these things rule, if I had the space and the cash, I'd definitely have another singlecut Soapbar (with BKP's o' course! ;) ), well underrated guitars!
