Ceramic warpig question
« on: March 06, 2009, 10:48:19 PM »
Has anyone ever installed the C-pig bridge pup with the screws facing the neck instead of the bridge side? If so, what was the difference in sound?

The C-Pig has screws/allens in both coils.

Then its either a custom C-Pig without the normal double screw pole, or its not a pig.

Until now I'd have said that all pigs were double screw pole, but I suppose its not impossible that someone had a normal one made. Did you get the pickup from BK/reputable dealer?

No, nothing custom about it. It's just an open (non-covered), black c-pig pup. You can get this option straight from the order page?

Even an uncovered pig should be double screw, I'd have thought. Did you order it from BK?

Oh, the answer, regardless of what pickup it is, is you get maybe 25% more lows by flipping a single screw pole around 180 degrees

No, I got it from a friend who'd ordered a set for his guitar. He decided to switch to EMG's and sold the pigs. I of course bought one.

So, the 25% more lows... would that be evenly distributed or more evident in the treble region (g/b/e strings)? It's the latter I'm wanting to round off a touch.

Exactly!! Well, if it isn't a pig, then he was duped as well. I'd agree however that switching to EMG's from BKP's is hardly fathomable

So, to the original question, anyone have experience doing this?

Also, if this is indeed a Miracle Man, then would a ceramic pig be even warmer sounding (particularly in the upper/treble region)??

a C-Pig would be even more brutal, even sounding, with a smooth singing top end. pinch harmonics are even easier to pull off and it's super tight in the bass department..

though it is a bit hard, if you dont compare them side by side, cos the MM is still an awesome pickup

Then I must have one! Hmmm... is there anything special with the magnets in those? I'd like to be able to swap mags if I feel like experimenting
