Never seen the Tech 21 VTbass before, looks pretty good, are you able to hook it straight up to a poweramp and cab?
Has anyone tried the sansamp RBI? Also looks pretty choice

Ive got it mate and its amazing. Really is a SVT in a box.
Yes a lot of people do use it with just a poweramp, it is that good.
Its not a balls out distortion pedal though.
Ive never used the sansamp but every bassist raves about them. This picks up where that pedal leaves off apparently.

I use my VT bass at every gig as most of the time i play through someone elses rig and it always sounds amazing.
The controls are very sensitive and cover a lot of ground. Ive never managed to get the level past 12 o'clock and has the potential to blow speakers up too

Heres a link to the talkbass forum's section on this pedal.

Sweet, might be a good cheap option to get a decent sounding bass rig. since ive got a PA poweramp that i could run it through. then maybe a rat in front for the extra gain if needed.
The RBI looks real good, maybe save a bit more and go that way.

Yeh thats what i do, ive got the VT bass for my main tone then the bass muff (which is quality as well) for any extra fuzz/gain i need. Then i go into a Boss Noise suppressor as well as the active emgs i have (soon to be replaced by a Bare Knuckle Passive job  :P

I had one - they are really good, but I gave it to a friend who needed a bass pre in his studio.  Besides a killer SVT sound, it can also get a great B15N tone, so it is very versatile, other then you can only get one sound at once.  My valve bass preamp gives me all the sounds I need, but I would recommend it really highly if you need a good bass pre.
