Audition tapes for Velvet Revolver
« on: March 10, 2009, 03:22:47 PM »

here's a couple of new tracks that were used for an audition that Gord Prior held for Velvet Revolver that the whole band recorded.

Mutha $%&#a

Clappy

They're not bad....the 2nd is very punky. If he is the new singer it wouldn't be a bad shout, there is a vague Axl thing going on there

Don't know, sounds a little generic, not something played with passion - the thing I most like on GnR...

Yeah I got bored of the songs and generic lyrics about 1-2 minutes in.

libertad.... i hated.
contraband was good!

the first LP is heavier and has a lot of interesting stuff going on. i cant bare listening to 2 seconds of libertad.
contraband has some lyrics i really hate. whether its the actual words or how they are placed. but the whole thing put together is awesome. reminds me of some obscure mid 90's hardcore stuff.

i dont like these new songs either. as for the vocals sounding a bit Axl-esque, i think they should avoid that.

another thumbs down from me - could be anyone.

they should get Izzy back in the band, he's what made it special and gave it soul.

I saw VR last year when they were touring the new stuff and was really unimpressed with libertad, i got it anyway and hated it.

But although not a classic it is a grower.
