The most heartbreaking thing.....
« on: March 17, 2009, 08:08:22 PM »
Over the past year and a bit, myself and my uncle decided to build our own guitar. He saw it as a bit of fun to get away from his normal wood machining job at Travis Perkins!!

Anyway, a few months back, we finally got it finished. And here it is.....(Sorry, this pic was taken with a really bad old camera)

<a href="http://s217.photobucket.com/albums/cc108/chrisboult21/?action=view&current=IMG00004-20090317-1910.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc108/chrisboult21/IMG00004-20090317-1910.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

However, I've recently lost my job and can't afford mortgage etc etc, so I'm gonna have to sell it. Anybody else gone through something similar? I am going to be posting this in seconds out if anyone is interested...

Chris - if you are serious about selling this guitar, and it sadly sounds as though you need to, I would most definitely recommend getting some fresh pics taken. My honest opinion is that nobody will be interested with the quality of picture you have posted - get some decent quality shots and you might get a bite!

Good luck,

Ian.

Yeah, it looks like it MIGHT be really nice. There are hints in there.

Sorry to hear about your job. TBH I would hunt random work, whatever it takes, before I sold a guitar I made for myself (assuming it was a good guitar)

Damn that is harsh... I sympathise.

As Ian said, take some better pictures, I don't think anyone will buy without a clearer shot (or a personal viewing).

Edit: I hope something comes up for you before you have to sell!

Yeah, I'm planning on taking some new pics tomorrow! I only have a really old camera, but I'm gonna nick my dads and get some fresh ones done.

To be honest, I've owned gibsons, fenders, ibanez etc....but this guitar just owned them all. It feels like an extension of my fingers! I'm just hoping it goes to a good home.

Beautiful guitar! The luxury binding around the body could not be to everyone's taste, though.Just because it looks luxurious.. 8)Could you tell us more about the Pu's and the electronics? And the fretboard (Material, radius, frets etc.)?

Cheers Viking!

The pickups were sourced from a local luthier, who tells me has "contacts" and were specifically designed for this guitar. The bridge measures around 17k, with the singles around 11 and 9 in the middle and neck.

With the neck, its a 25.5 scale, with a rosewood fingerboard, made of mahogany. Every neck i own is like it! 22 frets.

Of course, if anybody wants a go, all they have to do is pop round!

Oh, and MDV, please don't.

Those pics are much better. The guitar looks great - well done. It kind of reminds me of an indie super strat that I used to own (the dragon model, much more bling but the same sort of binding etc). I really hope that you can find a way of not selling it!

Keep the guitar, loose a kidney.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Agreed. Something about this thread doesn't ring true to me. Selling the guitar would put $$ in your pocket for how long? And then at the end you're left with no guitar and no money!

Your right, in the end I would indeed have no guitar and no money. But the money would be there to tide things over until I could hopefully find another job, and keep me in a house for a little while longer.

It is extremely tough to do, but somethings gotta be done. And in an ideal world, I'd like to keep both kidneys, I might need em!

Sell your children. Or your neighbour's children. PM me for a good deal.

Seriously though, that is a beautiful guitar, I hope you don't have to end up selling it.
