clip: jamming with a drummer and bassist
« on: March 24, 2009, 11:36:09 AM »
The drummer I've just started playing with again (I used to in about year 9 but he stopped playing for a while) sent me this track of him jamming with a bassist we know, so I had a go at making up some stuff to go over the top. Cant tell if I like how it sounds or if its just too boring and uninspired cos I'm not used to playing this sort of thing  It's all a bit sloppy expecially on my part but here we go:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=870027&songID=7448979

Improvements or any other advice?

I'm just hoping that the bassist will tone things down a bit (especially the slapping) when we play with me there, as he wont need to compensate for the lack of guitar :) I've introduced the drummer to stoner rock riffage and he likes it so I think things will be going the way I'd prefer soon :P

SOunds prety good Tom.  With a good singer over the top, it could sound excellent.

I think you'd find the bassist would calm it down with a guitar playing too. It's a fairly natural response for him to fill things out if there's not really enough instruments playing at the time.

I hope it all comes together for you !

Are there any budding singers waiting in the wings ?

Ain't that the truth !!

We have a great singer, but I'm fully aware that he is worth his weight in gold.

Yeah the singer in the cover band I used to be in is really good, its a shame I had to leave a good band but I just couldnt deal with covers and going back home to gig and practice every week or so.

Cheers, I hope you arent just sayign this to keep my spirits up :P

I feel like I need a trem pedal now, I use trem loads when recording to make single note stuff sound more interesting.. the BYOC kit is only £44

Good stuff Tom - I like the main riff you play. It's got a nice bit of groove.
I think I hate being indecisive.

Well we just had our second "jam" - this time without the bassist (didnt show up) but with Bucketshred from this forum and one of the vocalists from Raging Speedhorn. We made up some riffage and it sounded $%&#ing brutal :D
