The shop - question
« on: March 25, 2009, 09:53:33 AM »
Hey
I was looking through the BK shop and noticed 2 options: buying 1 pickup or 2 pickups (set)...
Does the neck pickup and bridge pick up of each  set are the same? if not, why don't I have the option
to buy only neck or only bridge?
I want to buy one of each kind.
Thanks

They are far from the same.

Get a calibrated set.

umm,, you do get the option to choose a neck or bridge model.

In the shop, click the model you want (Holy Diver? :))

Then choose either covered of open poled (the 3rd or 4th options) depending on which you want.

Whichever one you choose, the first option on its page is "1. Position" & allows you to choose either a neck or bridge model.
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

Also, a calibrated set is the neck model & the bridge model in one box, not two of the same pickup (the neck pickup is wound specifically for the neck position, it's not just the bridge model turned around).

So you want a Holy Diver neck & a Holy Diver bridge, then order a calibrated set.

they are two completely different pickups designed to match well in terms of output and tone... one bright bridge pickup can have a warm neck counterpart (cold sweat set, for example), a middy bridge can have a slightly scooped neck (painkiller)... but they sound really good together. if you don't know well the various BKP models a calibrated set is the best thing to do. i couldn't have done better mixes than my calibrated sets...
