GOD I HATE WIRING.....
« on: October 14, 2005, 05:02:52 PM »
I took apart my westfield les paul a while ago and now have to put it back together as Im selling it.  It has the stock neck PU and a Kent armstrong motherbucker in the bridge (2 hotrails put together to form a quad humbucker).  the wiring that was original on there was different to that on Gibson wiring and now i can't get the PU's to work properly as I can't remember how it was originally wired before I tok it apart.  some of the wires I cut so that I could locate them again, but It doesn't seem to be working.

i could i suppose rip out all the electrics and start completely form sctratch but i don't really have the time or the correct wires.

first of all the neck worked ok, but the bridge had LOADS of interference, I then split the ground coming form the bridge(itself) and wired it onto the back of the pot of the bridge hummer, now the neck PU is extremly faint and the bridge is fine???!!!!  :x  :?:  :?:

Sounds to me that it'll just be easier to start again and salvage as much of the wire as possible. A good place for wire is a car accessory shop, they have lots of colours and gauges that'll do the job!

That's OK, but there's no need to be formal. I answer to "Ron" except when I'm being worshipped. Possibly shouldn't mention it here, it seems heretical, but the Seymour Duncan (wash my mouf out wiv soap!) site has some very good schematic diagrams. Pick the one that's closest to your Westie, bearing in mind there might be colour differences, and rewire as per the schematic. It may not be identical to what you had but it will undoubtedly work. Sometimes a rewire's a lot easier than sorting out dodgy wiring. Wire you can get from Allparts, among others
Just 'cos you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you
