Pickup tech in Los Angeles for modding emg's???
« on: March 25, 2009, 06:30:59 PM »
Hello BK forum.  My friend Tony from Leeds says you guys are really nice, so I have the following question.  I got to play the active Seymoure's on the limited ltd white v that had two 9 volts in them instead of one, making it sound reeeealy good.  I'm hoping to find a tech in Los Angeles who'd be willing to mod my explorer which has emg's to this two 9 volt design for better tone.  If there are any L A techs that are part of this forum that can help me with this, please respond here or pm me!  Meanwhile someday I do plan on getting some bk's since Tony's tones with them are really good, just trying to save cash right now hopefully with this mod.  Please let me know and thanks so much.  Oh, my tunes are at http://www.myspace.com/mattoconnor7  I hope you all like them.  Make Rock Proud!

I've got EMGs in an Epi Explorer and changed to 18v (i.e. two 9v batteries), it's a very, very slight difference in tone - not worth sweating over.

When I lived in L.A., these two shops are the ones I trusted my instruments with:

Norik Renson (North Hollywood, CA) 818-761-4766

(The guy is so busy he doesn't have a website..he doesn't need it. He already has tons of business from the "A-list" players in L.A.)

Amp Shop/Bassexchange
13701 Ventura Blvd.
Sherman Oaks, CA 91423

Ask for Tina. She's one of the best guitar repair techs in L.A. She is another one of the techs who take care of the "A-list" players.
