Nice. Mine's barely longer than that at 28.625". I love what it does to the low strings, but the effect on the high strings I'm not so fond of. I think I'd really love an 8 with fanned frets to get things working well across the whole range.

Thats the EMG's. With passives they sound great across the whole tonal range. I feel the same way about my loomis as you do with your Pro.

Oh yeah you have the dual pro. I haven't heard too much feedback about the Cepheus pickups in the pro yet, but this doesn't sound too good. Many guys including myself love them in the standard.

They look awesome and the price is amazing, but nobody will see one until July nobody knows how they will be for sure.

I never noticed the answers to this thread so *bump*!

Cheers Tom! Me too

Hm, i think an 8 string along the lines of low B to high A would be most interesting. Then i guess a 25.5 scale would be enough, and a 7 gauge high a would probably have decent tension.
Or am i way off?

That would probably not be short enough for a high A, or you may have to use such a tiny string that replacing it would soon become quite tedious.

Serratus, how is the Warpig? Do you think the range effects it's tone badly and does it get distorted on clean?? I'd really love a good response as I'm thinking of changing my mind from Nailbombs to Warpigs... Either way I shall have coil taps so perhaps this would help if it does distort from the hotness.

Pigs can clip a clean channel, yeah. If you have a clean gain, use that, if not, roll back the volume. Their clean sound is great (not "for a metal pickup" its just great).

The pig can handle the lowest tunings I've thrown at it - drop A, no problem. Its not all that tight (rather a lot tighter than a nailbomb though, which seem to have about 'normal' tightness - most BK high outputters are much tighter than you'll be used to playing, and the pig is middle ground on that scale) but its easily tight and clear enough to take a low B/A. More, I daresay.

Dont believe people that tell you its loose or dark. Its niether.

Well it was Tim saying  the sound in extended range instruments = sceptical.

Bad news; Tim just phoned me and the 25 degree angle is too steep =( Lundgren or maybe swineshead I think now. I'm just abit worried Lundgren = too scooped...

er... coil tapping, is that the same as coil splitting? I'm really curious at the moment about how coil splitting sounds for clean, I'm used to just using the neck pickup, does coil splitting half the output? or is it just more single coil sounding?

MDV: I thought the warpig was the tightest bkp, or am I getting mixed up with the ceramic pig?

Wouldnt go with swinsehead for a top class instrument. They sound great, but the build quality isnt there.

The PK is the tightest BK, followed by the MM, followed by the C-Pig.

they're all very tight, but the PK most so. MM and cpig are really close, but I recon the MM takes it.

There are other reasons it does better in low tunings, too. Its lack of significant compression and its high-attack high mid, namely.

Remember my 8 = High A not Low F#. However, that's all useless because it's not going to be a BK any more
