two p-90s in one?
« on: March 28, 2009, 01:57:53 AM »
So, I was thinking around, and I came to thinking about the dilemma that comes with trying to wire two p-90s together as one humbucker. I've heard that the wiring process is a nightmare, and that there's a substantial volume drop. But it made me think more into how a humbucker is constructed. So my question is this: is it possible to build two p-90s as one pickup, as if it were a humbucker?

Nathan Sheppard has already made a guitar with a double P-90 as a humbucker in the bridge and a single P-90 at the neck.
So many pickups, so little time

Surely wiring a neck and bridge in series instead of parallel should give a huge tone? I've never found a guitar that has series wiring on a standard toggly switch, not sure how easy it would be.

I've got BKP92's in my Fender Jaguar, and have it wired with a series/parallel switch replacing the standard bass cut.
Series sounds MASSIVE!

I thought 92s were braided two, how do you wire them series/parallel? And are they hum-canceling in series?
