Pedals question ?

Ok I listened to the  Fender Vibro Champ XD, Fender Jnr, Fender superchamp, but finally decided on the Blackstar HT5 combo for my wife (thanks to all that helped with advice). Only disappointment was it wasn't made in the UK and I am really trying to support UK companies atm.

I did miss out on checking the Vox AC4TV which had some good reviews dunno if anyone has heard them.

Anyway to my question unlike the Superchamp the blackstar does not have effects and I would like some advice on pedals. Just basic reverb, delay maybe trem and chorus am I better looking for an all in one or single pedals. Don't want to spend a huge amount and which if I am getting singles should I get first rememberin' this is early in her guitar playin.

NB havn't tried the amp with the new pickups in the Daisy Rock yet as it's still at the techs waitin for them - 2 weeks now I'm guessin BKP are really busy atm. But a friend got his fender strat upgraded with new BKPs (put it in after mine but the tech fitted the ones he had bought for himself and is now waitin for the replacements) and since he is playing with his new toy he lent her his Gibson SG standard.

Blackstar are a British company y'know! And much more British than the Fenders you were looking at.
I'm sure she'll be happy with the Blackstar - I certainly am!

Forget pedals for now. When she needs a certain effect she'll know about it, but she'll be far better off at the beginning just learning to play guitar rather than twiddling with knobs.
When you do venture into the pedal market though, you'll almost always get better quality from single pedals rather than multi-effects, although the single pedal route will undoubtably be more expensive...

Multi pedals seems to always suck tone, I've used a Boss ME50 and a Line 6 Pod xt Pro, both of wich while versatile, just deaden the tone. Also multipedals are intimidating when you first get them and all you do is play with the presets, which while fun, does get the benefit of a mulit fx unit.

Don't buy a pedal till you need it, buy a decent single unit. If you buy the pedals one at a time you get used to it, how it works and how it sounds, then when you add another to the signal chain you only have to figure that one out.

Sorry to hear your BK's are taking some time, but I think the lads have been pretty busy of late, I hope you get the axe back soon!

Personally I wouldn't get pedals for a beginner. I wouldn't call myself a beginner and I still haven't gotten any use for pedals.

Yup the delay isn't really a problem and I am sure there is nothing more they can do I did hear they were workin 7 days and pullin late shifts to not let people down.  The only problem was I sneaked the axe out of the house and then told her it would be back soon.  Less of a problem now she has been lent the SG.

Everyone needs an overdrive and at £27 the Danelectro Cool Cat Drive is an almost exact clone of the much praised Fulltone OCD (the v.1 edition) = for the price its a great OD - metal case, proper true bypass switch - can't do better than that.

(btw don't confuse it with the Dano Transparent Overdrive which is a not quite so spot on copy of the ultra rare Paul Cochrane Timmy - although its still a nice pedal!)

Only reason I was thinking of them is because the combos this replaced had reverb and delay built in as do many small practice combos.

Pedals can be fun, and a nice reverb can help give a nice full tone to anyones playing. I don't actually use them myself, but Sue started playing with pedals very soon after picking up a guitar, and now I envy her ability to dial in an nice effect quickly.

Yup no ones fault just one of them things - still wife has a loaned SG and a new HT5 so she is happy anyway!
