Interesting looking wood, but Im not sure how it'll look with the lighter-coloured body.... and I wouldn't fancy the Standard Thin shape.

I've got a couple of Warmoth Pro necks (not fitted to anything yet of course!).  They'll be going on solid bodies, but pretty light ones, hope I don't get the neck-heaviness issue.

No probs Phil!  The body isn't actually that light in the flesh, it was a really sunny day when I took those pics.

I'm quite happy with regular profile necks, and the new one isn't Ibanez Wizard thin.  More like a regular C shape Fender neck.......

I was just starting to get comfortable with thinner necks, but then I got the ES-339 and now the Fender C shapes feel like toothpicks!  I can live with the standard C shape, but I probably wouldn't buy another Fender now unless it had a fatter neck. 

(Hmmm, wonder what the neck on that relic is like?  )

I think the '59 Roundback is the only Warmoth shape for me, really.  I have an SRV one - which in theory is the thickest after the Fatback, Boatneck and '59 - and even that feels a bit too skinny.

I'm considering getting a thicker neck for my strat as I'm getting really comfortable with them now. How thick are the roundbacks? I'd like to have some idea before pulling the trigger!!

The '59 roundback that I have is thick, a bit smaller and rounder the the huge U on Shobet's Tele if you played that at the Manchester meet...

Pretty well!  I don't really notice it when playing leads.  The only thinkg I'm learning to adapt to at the moment is that some chords get out of tune if I play my usual sloppy style and I slightly bend a string or two.  The flatter radius and the skyscr@per frets mean it's easy to sharpen notes.

I'll get used to it and play more accurately!

I have always loved those one-of-a-kind woods! A great looking neck, it brings a great visual character to a guitar.

I noticed that you have stainless steel frets on it, big ones. True, they force one to play with a lighter touch on the left hand. This results in less finger fatigue and also less fret wear, which is a true bonus. Of course, now that you have stainless steel frets on it, I doubt you'll have to change them on the next couple of decades  8)

How are you liking the SS frets? My upcoming custom guitar is gonna have SS frets, tall AND narrow.

I like 'em, they do seem a bit harder though which is odd, I wasn't expecting to notice any difference!  Just a different feel I guess....

Agreed, the big Tele necks are very deep at the nut, which I don't like - in fact they're pretty much the same same thickness for the whole length of the neck.  I'd guess the Fatback would be the Warmoth equivalent. 

The '59 Roundback is like a Gibson neck, almost a semicircle in cross-section, nice and fat at the 12th fret but only about 22mm at the nut.

I have a goncalo alves neck from Warmoth on a tele (though I got a Kingwood fingerboard on it).  It has the SS frets too.  I really like the feel of it and I am sure you will enjoy playing it.  Mine has the Clapton V shape.
