How much is this guitar Worth??
« on: April 01, 2009, 12:16:33 PM »
Am trying to slim down my expanding collection of guitars and amps, so looking to sell this guitar.  Problem is its not an off the shelf or total custom guitar, so ive got no idea realistically what to ask/expect for it.

Its a one piece alder body based on the wolfgang design (real wolfgangs are 3 piece basswood).  Spreyed with nitro paint with black binding.  I used the neck off a wolfgang special, its got strap locks, a holy diver in the bridge, which can be split via a push pull, and a p90 in the neck.

The bridge is a tonepros wraparound.

Its a great one off, but i just don't play it since i got my Feline Les paul.

Here's a few pics

Would i be better off taking it apart and selling the bits and pieces seperately?

Cheers

Is the neck off a US or a Korea Wolfgang?

Do you still have the original body?

Looking at the treble side of the bridge, it looks like the guitar needs some serious intonation adjustments  :o

I'd sell the parts separately......

Well the neck is only off a korean.

But the guitar was set up by a luthier not 3 months ago, and to be honest i havent really touched it since, i certainly hadnt noticed any intonation issues though.

I dont have the body anymore i sold it on ebay, it was one of those blue photo flame jobs.

Sorry - I didn't mean it needed intonation adjustment now, I can't tell that from a photo!  It's just that the bridge is really pushed back from the post?  That's not ideal.

I think you'll get more for the parts separately than you will as a whole.  Easy to strip it and eBay it I would have thought.

That would have been some eyesight  :P

I had it reverse engineered from the neck by a guy in manchester.

I guess the main problem i forsee in selling the parts seperately is that the body is routed for the wrap around - not the most common bridge, but apparently it lends itself to  more sustain.

I don't think it matters what the body is specced as - someone will be interested somewhere!

The sum of the parts will certainly be worth more than the whole  :)

Since it's a parts guitar it'll probably only appeal to bargain hunters - unless you're really lucky and it matches somebody's dream specs.

I agree with Twinfan, you'll probably get more selling the parts if they're all in good condition.  That's what I'd do if was selling any of my parts-o-casters.

Yeah I was thinking the same, its kind of heartbreaking, remembering the (many) hours of sanding and respreying that were involved.

Ironically its the neck that i dislike the most, i could prob get a new one built to fit the body, which more closely matches my fav necks, but i'm kind of thinking there's no point in throwing more money at it, as its unlikely to every be my main or backup fixed bridge guitar.

I know what you mean, I've got a couple of (not-so-)superstrats I put together and painted myself 20-odd years ago.   They never get played, but I wouldn't sell them because they're virtually worthless to anyone else.
