harmonics and prime numbers
« on: April 02, 2009, 02:49:12 PM »
now I dunno if I've understood this right but according to Tuesday's horizon on BBC2 there is a link between the harmonics of a vibration and prime numbers, it's around the 44 minute mark on here

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00jmzdk/Horizon_20082009_Alan_and_Marcus_Go_Forth_and_Multiply/

if I've understood this right then I'm completely "WTF?!!!!"

Never thought about it before, but with the harmonic filtartion I deal with (fuggin Huge banks of capcitors) on the  electric network we filer out 2rd 5th 7th and 11th harmonics.  I should imagine that it corresponds to strings so I'll ask one of my designers what the link is.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.
