Switching Options For My Nailbombs
« on: April 04, 2009, 07:16:58 PM »
So, I've got a nice Charvel with 2 Nailbombs.  Was thinking about putting a middle SC in it, but now I'm wondering if I can make more out of what I've got.

It's currently switched using a Schaller megaswitch.  But I'm wondering what my options would be with a normal 5 way strat switch.... or indeed, any options.  I wouldn't be worried about a toggle switch or something.

Any cool 2 humbucker switching ideas?

Mark.

The standard 5-way switch gives you basically no options with 2 humbuckers.  Worse still, the combination ofpositions doesn't make any sense.  Far better to stick with the megaswitch or a superswitch

If you add a middle SC, then the std 5-way makes a bit more sense - though the only real choices you've got are whether to coil split the bridge in position #2 & the neck in position #4...

I can't remember which Megaswitch you've got, Mark - is it the P-Model?

I'm always posting this link, but I like this DiMarzio wiring using a superswitch.  It's pretty similar to the P-Model though, I think only the 3rd position is different:

Yeah, that's pretty cool, PQ.  It's a "P" switch, I think - the one that gives the PRS type wiring.

Getting tired of the 2 & 4 positions, fancy trying something new, until the wife lets me have another guitar...

Was looking at this:

... and there are some pretty good ideas...

With the megaswitch E model, you can get some nice options out of HSH setups.  The other option is to use the Super Switch which will let you wire any way you want.
