Looked at one of these nice colour to go with my epi and the office in which it lives but also saw a cheap

pedal would they mix well?

perhaps this is pedal-prejudice... but the Line6 UberMetal pedal doesn't seem to me to hold great promise :/

try a metal muff, or the mesa-boogie sansamp character pedal (california maybe). the sansamp in particular will give you a great deal of versatility, and you'll be able to use it for other things.

ah! good point, the sansamp stuff is good for that.  i've heard of people turning up to gigs with just a sansamp and a guitar.

and they are quite solid, so will still make an excellent weapon :)

Nothing. Nothing, i repeat: NOTHING with the name 'Metal' in it's name or mission statement will go well with a VOX AC4TV.
The AC4TV is a cute little friendly 1x10 combo that sounds good for light pop and rock sounds. If you are wanting something to sound "Uber" Metal, then you're going to need a big ol' stack of some sort, lol.
Or at least an HT-5...

Just get a vox valvetronix or a roland cube.

Have a Vox DA5 the AC4 would look really cool in the office  :D

Are the Cubes and Valvetronix that good ? I did like the valve tone on the Jnr blues and the HT5 but I don't want another HT 5 looking for something different to complement it

They arent setting the world on fire, but they are very good bang for buck and give very useable practice tones.

Anyway, shouldnt you be practicing?

Fingers are sore from holding chords G D7 A E Em - problems with paddy fingers damping those notes but gettin better.

Dont press so hard.

Dont say youre not.

99.9% of new starters do, I can practically see it from here!

Get your guitar,

Touch a finger onto any sting, on any fret, just behind the fret. Dont press it down. Start picking the string. It should sound like a dead thunk. Now, very slowly, start applying more pressure, pushing the string down while picking it. When the note sounds clearly, add just the tiniest shade more pressure; thats how much pressure you need.

Any better?
