HSS warpig superstrat...thoughts?
« on: April 10, 2009, 04:27:45 AM »
Wassup guys?

I am trying to sketch out a future guitar project which is meant to be a beasty guitar...sorta...maybe..

We're looking at an HSS setup, warpig, single coil, and sustainer neck, what would you recommend for the middle single coil?

There's no particular tone I'm looking for, just something that will help balance out some versatility and not have to much of a volume drop between pickups, your thoughts?

no, no, it's just me... i don't love too much single coils and since i discovered p90s i found that i don't need them at all... :) plus the middle single coil is something that really kills playability (for me, at least...), i have to use pick in a completely unnatural way...
anyway if you're thinking about a brutal metal monster () it's a strange setup... i'd go for an HH or HSH...

to speak about single coils there's something called "the uber-sinner", a custom overwound sinner that should be absolutely vicious! the standard sinner is very hot too, should couple greatly with the warpig... i've got a neck pig90 and it's a great pickup. if i'm not wrong it's the p90 version of the sinner.

Well not so much a metal monster as I just want that beastie pickup in the bridge, there's going to be a sustainer in the neck pickup so either way that would just leave the middle single coil, i'm just curious what would match decently next to a warpig so the guitar has a little versatility

cheers

i though about a sustainer in the past, but i didn't want to sacrifice the neck slot... anyway if you want a single coil that's on par with the warpig in terms of thickness and output the sinner should work very well... if you want more versatility you'd like a sweeter pickup, though.

it has to be a trilogy or special sinner wind. i know slowhands couldn't keep up with a warpig.
