My Pod XT is poorly...waaaaaah! :*(
« on: April 18, 2009, 10:26:46 PM »
For some really odd reason, the input on my XT Live makes a horrendous buzzing noise. I know it's not the output as I have tried with headphones too. Makes all my clean channels sound like they've been set to Crunch instead. I've just been laid off and was looking forward to using my new-found abundance of time to record some new songs, but damnit this problem just chose the wrong time to happen. I have no money to go and get this sorted out, and the other alternatives like Guitar Rig, Amplitube etc just sund so blody rubbish it makes my blood boil to think they even charge money for that pap!

Does anyone know of anything I can use in the mean time that isn't...how should I put it... completely bloody useless?

I know it's along shot as obviously stuff doesn't come for free, but I really can't spend any money and I'm at my wit's end...I neeeeeed to play and the Pod is the only thing I have that comes close to any kind of amplification!

Either that or does anyone know why this could be happening? I have a feeling it's probably something to do with something has come loose inside the jack socket, like maybe it's not earthing properly any more. Have tried updating firmware and drivers just in case it was a software issue but safe to say it's not that.

Also, is it wrong that after being laid off my first worry is the state of my recording gear and not what the hell am I going to pay the bills with? Maybe I need a doctor.....  :?

Could be almost anything really. It's worth opening it up and looking to see if there's anything glaringly obvious which has come loose. But, basically, it's a computer inside and waaaaaay too complex for even many techs to attempt to mend.

That's what I was afraid of to be honest, I mean if it was an amp I'd be in there like swimwear, but with the Pod it looks a little harder to get into and I don't want to fudge it up any more than it already is, heh.

Wow...has anyone tried phoning the repair centre in Daventry for Line 6? It is LITERALLY impossible to actually get through to them. You press all the options and then you get some french recorded guy telling you the hours of service are between 10 and 4 weekdays CET, and then it beeps and nothing! Kinda like a beep for an answerphone. Then literally nothing. Fat lot of good that is! The only other "technical help" they give is posting a question on the forum. LAME.

Remind me not to buy Line 6 again, ever.  :?

according to Adi Vines in Guitar & Bass magazine, Line 6 have now moved their tech centre to Belgium.  and are hard to get a hold of.  an online FAQ really isn't a substitute for a person that knows the piece of equipment you're asking about, is it?

by the way, he comments that Marshall and Mesa/Boogie both have exceptionally good service lines.

Yeah, really hard to get hold of, I basically had to coerce my local axery into giving me a trade only number that I was made to swear on pain of death not to give out. Called it and actually got through to a person in the UK rather than a French accented machine. They took my number and hopefully the repair guy will call me on Tuesday, they gave me his direct line to call if he forgets.

But that's the thing, why should a customer have to try and find a back-door way of contacting these people? You give them a bunch of money and once they have your dough they don't want to talk to you. All very well when they're trying to sell you something, they have a billion numbers for Sales etc.

[\end grumble]  :?

Lol, indeed! Hopefully getting this sorted now. I just find it a shame that you have to go about it in a very roundabout way to request a repair. One for the Line 6 suggestions box methinks.  :?
