DVD Review -- COHEED AND CAMBRIA, Neverender

It was only a matter of time before Coheed attempted to play the entire Amory Wars saga consecutively, and this DVD does a fantastic job of capturing the feel of a Coheed show, which is still short on frills and long on great songwriting and playing.

It is a a 2 DVD set, each DVD covering two albums' worth of material.

PICTURE quality is above average. 16:9 HD cameras translated well into SD with a VERY high transfer rate, as the soundtrack is just 2.0 (!!!).

SOUND is first rate, and a major step upwards from their last live DVD, The Last Supper. The tones of Claudio's vintage Explorer/Bogner rig against Travis' LP rig is as clearly defined as their playing styles. The bass sounds fantastically punchy, and with uber drummer Chris Penne behind the kit, I think that the performance of No World For Tomorrow both sounds and is performed better than the album.

PERFORMANCE is great, for the most part. There are a few mistakes, but as it says in the liner notes, there was no post production fixing done on these songs, so what you see is what was played.

Overall, a very ambitious 6-hour look at one of the best concept pieces in rock.
