had the opportunity to take my cornford carrera to my guitar teachers tonight. he's just moved to a house with no neighbours so had a chance to see what my amp could do.
so impressed. tbh i think tube amps arent really suited to the bedroom. i know people say this all the time and people keep buying them, then try to find ways to make them more quiet because they have to have a tube amp, but the sounds were huge and so impressive at volumes im not going to be able to replicate often. the cornford's cab is heavy and thick pine. its a large cab and is designed to sound huge. it has amazing bass response but this is not going to show through unless you can get it running past 10am minimum (whilst gain is on full) and ideally past 12 noon is when it shines. the cornford will sound good in comparison to most amps at low volume. it has the ability to sustain and overdrive so sweetly.
The cornell is designed with the bedroom much more in mind. with high levels of attenuation and smaller cab + speaker will make a massive difference in the amount you can turn it up but it wont sound as good as the larger cornford cab nor will the the range of sounds be as good.
very impressed with the cornford and won my guitar teacher over. he would be very happy mic'ing this up for gigs as he could get it hitting the sweet spot as apposed to his large amp at 3.
