I'm not sure what passives would fit :-\ I'm not loving the EMGs at the moment, though. I'm waiting till I get my HT5 till I make a final decision, but I might change them out depending on what my options are.

Any?

There are loads of active-passive conversions on the web - Will look now..

Voila, get one of those, and install passive pups, the pickup ring covers the holes left over from the oversized routing, and grip the pickups so they don't feel loose.

Ahh, thanks man :) I'm new to 7-strings, and I didn't realise the shape of the actives wasn't a major impediment. Damn, just when I thought I had a guitar I didn't want Warpigs for... ;)

I've also seen it done with pieces of foam cleverly placed either side - can be done very neatly.

Or if you want, you could just get some SD Blackouts, they're considered very highly actually.

And finally, you could send the EMGs to BKP and get them to rewind it?

Another possibility would be Q Tuner pickups, they use neodymium magnets and are apparently incredible - I've not used them. They also have bass housing.

Oh wow, yeah, I hadn't considered Q-tuners, and I'd never realised that normal pickups could slot in quite easily. Thanks man :) Lots to think about!

Blackouts have been more or less at the top of my list, since I have a set that I quite like in my Viper. I was just worried that the low B (or whatever it ends up being - I haven't chosen tuning) might mud out since the BOs are quite bass heavy, but I guess I can throw some heavy strings on my Viper to put that theory to a rough test.

I've pretty-much settled on a C-pig set for the Angelus, though :D And maybe a MM bridge to go with a P-rails neck in my SG. Ahh... pickups are fun to choose ;)

Isn't an EMG pickup basically a couple of coils and a preamp encased in a big chunk of epoxy?  I don't see how it could be taken apart without completely trashing the pickup.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I have no idea, I assumed the cover could be pried off some how - But you're probably right.

The Angelus turned up this afternoon :D WOW. The "pro" finish felt quite strange at first; but man... it's so resonant and sounds so thick and punchy while retaining plenty of clarity. The LP tones I've been searching for - without the annoying, non-ergonomic LP idiosyncracies. The stock pickups aren't too amazing (they sound sort of like a JB/paf set), they are really nice clean, but a bit bland, and not aggressive enough for the metal tones I'm after. I'm 100% decided that I'm getting some ceramic Warpigs asap :D
