I want your thinline Philly. Is a YOINK allowed in this instance?

:D  YOINK certainly allowed, but it's not for sale!

I've almost sold it several times, but after 10 years I finally realised it's most definitely a keeper.

Oh I wouldn't pay for it, you just wouldn't get it back...

Hmmm, and you're a lot bigger and younger than I am  :? .   Good job you're hundreds of miles away.

I have a car and been in the mood for a roadtrip. The London area seems nice this time of year.

And I think I want another tele, until i realise my holydiver equipped bar-steward is possibly the best guitar i've ever owned. Anyone tried the cheap BSB tele that squier make?

Copperhead,

Thanks for the appreciation, though I have to say the punched metal guard was my last resort with that generic Antique Burst. I tried everyting, the red torty it came with, a white pearl, a black 3 ply. I just dont like the body colour myself, but have tried all kinds of changes to offset it. Which is a shame because it plays so  well for a really cheaply acquired guitar.

I am seriously thinking of sanding the body down and repainting with something tastier. You have now made me doubt this course of action.

I have to say the only thing that I thionk goes with the antique burst on the Squier Standard Tele is a metallic guard. Which is a shame because the Squier Standard teles (in whatever colour are a seriously good value for money budget tele) and in antique burst they are cheap as chips for a non-chinese Squier.

Maybe I'll live with it a bit more

While on the subject of BSB Squiers, just to add to the thread, heres what I did to my BSB 1998 Squire. I suppose you could call it an "Esquier"

Hot pickup, wiring to give tone+vol/vol only/straight to jack. (from Ole Fuzzys site;- Google it!!) Oh and homemade blackguard as well.

How would you rate the bsb squier? I'm actually a big fan of Squier guitars, my current pick up and play guitar is my vintage modified squier strat.

and with at least a chrome BKP humbucker it would be even better! ;)

Don't worry, once my insurance pays up (assuming they do), I'll be replacing MOST of my pick ups with BKP's!

Hmmm... I'd prefer a Tele with Strat pickups.

Although I do like the idea of a Strat with a Tele bridge pickup - I guess a baseplate might achieve something similar.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

its one for myself this.  i wanted a quick project so picked up an allparts neck for it and knocked out this body in a spare hour this afternoon.  i am going to rework the scrathplatde design a bit too - make the lower horn more strat like.  it was going to be more like a squier 51 clone but i changed my mind earlier

Earlier comment came out wrong - I don't dislike it, hybrid Strat/Teles are cool.  :)

It reminds me a bit of the old Robin designs (and the Squier '51, which you mentioned):

no worries phil, it will never please everyone anyway!!

thats making me lean back toward the squier 51 idea - which was going to look like this
