Oli started a similar thread in Time Out :) I mostly started again to lose weight (which is working well) but really enjoying it again now.

I'm currently riding a DMR trailstar with various parts. Not really suitable for the kind of riding I do (xc, singletrack stuff) and so at the start of summer I'm probably going to buy a new spesh Hardrock or 2nd hand Rockhopper :) Cant wait, it'll be nice to be on a lighter bike which is made for the stuff I'm riding it on. Currently I just ride through fields/roads/bridleways around here, not very exciting as most of them are fairly flat.

Was going to go on a trip last summer up to scotland with indy to ride some of the trails up there but it never happened haha. I'm probably still not fit enough to ride em anyway :\

i mostly ride along the canals and greenways around huddersfield... but i also go up the valley sides, they are huge hills... a lot of effort.. i do like that..

i dont really do the off road stuff much cos i nackered my hip in when i was 12 going off a big jump.. sort of puts a lot of doubt in your mind

Yeah when I used to bmx I managed to scr@pe my face up pretty badly, still dont get how I got away without any scars but I had a massive patch with no skin on my face for a few weeks haha. Knocked my confidence a lot. I'm getting back into the bmxy stuff though, but I feel ridiculous on one so I'm going to set my dmr up for that sort of thing :D

Hiya,
I Ride a Dialled Bikes Prince Albert, i love it

Also an on-one Pompino Fixie for riding to work.

I used to do a bit of downhilling, but smashed my selfup pretty badly and now have the fear and stick to XC these day's. I'm oop propper north and Ride Around Northumberland and the playparks in the Scottish borders.

I've also got a Yeti ASX with 7.2 inches of travel but it's going up for sale (all minus brakes and wheels!) It's a killer bike but can't do it justice any more.

My bro has a habit of using his face when he needs to do an emergency stop.  Had to go down to Cardiff a few years back when he was downhilling and came off...... flew straight down a bank and wrapped his head round a very big tree.  He fractured his skull again (believe me, not for the first time).

I used to love mountain biking (down hills anyway), but sold my bike a while back and never replaced it.

Last time I really used it was at uni.  It was always disheartening in Lufbra when I'd cycle to uni and Paula Radcliffe would come running past me  :?
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

I cant decide on a new bike. I've been offered a Scott Reflex 45 with upgraded brakes, front wheel, chain and cassette, for a decent price. Cant find much about the Reflex 45 frames on the internet though which is worrying (just 2 good reviews from america), though someone on MTB Britain reckons their lower end ones usually come with decent frames for pimping with good parts when the cheaper ones break.

Its either that or a 2nd hand Hardrock/save more money and get a 2nd hand Rockhopper.

Any ideas?

I have an old Lightspeed titanium that is beat up as hell because I bought it from my old trainer who used it in the Hawaii Mountain Bike Triathalon a few times (after competing in the Ironman the weekend before - needless to say I am not in that category!).  I used to do a lot more off road riding when I lived in England.  This is a great hardtail bike though (it is as light as my road bikes!), and I rode it in the NYC MS ride a couple of years ago (though 30 miles on a mountain bike is a lot harder than it is on a road bike!).
So many pickups, so little time
